Solace

Feel the power of the tree of life. Let it be the guiding light. Feel it man. Feel it.

Me info

1.      22 years old. Born October 6, 1957

2.      Saul Creed

3.      Male

4.      I’ve lived here for seven years. After high school, I went to Vietnam for a couple of years then came back to find a job. My search for an income still continues to this day but my band is about to go to the max.

5.      My sign is Libra. I would agree that I “don’t want to be alone.” However, I don’t really care “what’s best for everyone else.” I enjoy what’s best for me. I would consider myself as “suave.” I’m a Casanova which is probably why my ex left me. She couldn’t stand beautiful women falling all over me. I am definitely “artistic, stylish and enjoy creating a beautiful world” and I enjoy reaching a “higher” state of being ("Astrology.com").

6.      I’m 5’9”, 140lbs. short hair, green eyes, and in excellent physical condition

7.      I got my high school diploma from Stratford High School. I didn’t go to college because I was vacationing in Vietnam. Right now I don’t have plans of attending college. I am trying to focus on my band and my hunting skills.

8.      I don’t have a steady job at the moment. I’m employed by Edgar Worthington in the private sector. I’m also in a boss band called “Creed and the Tree of Life”.

9.      In high school I worked at a Mickey D’s but other than that I don’t have any job experience.

10.  My salary when I was in Vietnam was $4,334 which was the last real paycheck I received. Right now I am living off of money I make from my gigs and the things I do for Mr. Worthington ("Military.com").

11.  A. Bear Mini-Magnum Compound Bow Archery Set $69.99
B. Three-pickup Electric Guitar with through-the-body tremor control plus amp $114.90
C. Ring solitaire with cubic zirconia, gold mounting, 1 carat, yellow gold $100.00  ("Flicker")

12.  I was engaged to Elizabeth McAdams. She broke it off but I am hoping that we can get back together. Once my band starts taking off she will come back to me.

13.  Edgar Worthington age 65 pays me to perform various jobs that require the skills of an expert killer.

14.  I like to jam with my band. I rock out on the weekends and play some gigs every now and then. I also enjoy gardening. I have a small garden in the woods behind my parents’ house. It’s a secret garden, not like the book, where I grow magic plants.

15.  Atheist.

16.  I am lazy and a bum. I don’t have a real job and I pretend to be a rock star. I don’t have a good work ethic. I don’t have a desire for the American lifestyle which leads to my failed relationships, the reason I didn’t go to college, and why I don’t have a job. I was more comfortable in Vietnam than in America. Now that I am back home, I feel distant and in an attempt to reconnect to the life I had before I applied my services to Mr. Worthington.

17.  My strengths would be that I have experience the harsh realities of life outside of Stratford. Even though I didn’t go to college I’m well educated and I read a lot. My life experiences enable me to be more opened minded and accepting of different ideas. I can look at a situation from different point of views. My knowledge strengths come in the form of philosophy.

18.   Good Citizenship Award 1st and 2nd grade

19.  Stratford Fantasy Football League, The Hunt N Gun Society

20.    I was arrested for possession marijuana but my good friend Mr. Worthington expunged my record.

21.  1970 Ford Maverick $1995 ("Goodbye Old Paint")

22.  Animal House, 1978 directed by John Landis and Alien, 1979 directed by Ridley Scott. Both were excellent movies can even be called flawless. Animal House is about a couple of freshmen in college and Alien is about aliens invading a spaceship ("DigitalDreamDoor").

23.  I recently read The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx first published in 1848 and Machiavelli’s The Prince published in 1532. While I am neither a communist nor learning to be a tyrant it’s good to understand the other side of an argument. I am fully against commies but by learning their argument I can better my own (Hysell), (Jyang).

24.  Time and Rolling Stone

25.  Saturday Night Live John Belushi and Bill Murray are hilarious. MASH is another of my favorite shows Trapper is my favorite character ("Internet Movie Database").

26.  I admire Jimi Hendrix above all others. He is just like me. I find comfort in music the same way Hendrix did. Like me he was in the military. The start of his career was rough and so is mine. Listening to his music and watching him play is seeing true beauty. His ability with a guitar was amazing. It’s my dream to be able to play like he did and become as famous as him. My favorite song of his is “1983” also called “A Merman I Should Turn To Be” (Bio. True Story).

1.      I went to a Jimi Hendrix concert in Baltimore on June 13, 1970 (Fairchild). After high school, I went to Vietnam to fight in the war. I was there for two years. I met Elizabeth in high school. We dated for three years then were engaged for another year before she ripped out my heart and ended it.
“Look this just isn’t working. I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Ever since you came back from the war you’ve acted differently. We don’t talk anymore like we used to. You don’t have a job I mean how do you expect to support me. You haven’t even tried to find one.”
“I am going through a rough time trying to adjust back to American life. I don’t know what’s wrong either. I just don’t want this life.”
“Oh you mean a life with me,” she says harshly.
“No,” I exclaim. “Of course, I want a life with you; I just don’t want this culture, this lifestyle. You wouldn’t understand what I mean.”
“I think I do understand,” she remarks. “You don’t want to work. All you want to do is play in your stupid band and act like you’re still in high school.”
“Hey, I really care about that band. Playing music helps me deal with my problems.”
“You mean your drug problems. Yeah I know about that too. You didn’t know I was watching but I’ve seen you do them.”
“You don’t know what I’ve been through,” I say sobbingly. “You don’t even know why I do them. After living in Vietnam, I just can’t live the American lifestyle. It’s so plain and boring. Go to work, come home, talk with your wife, eat diner, and go to bed. Nam was so much more. I lived in the jungle. I was part of the land. I lived like a savage and I enjoyed it. And that’s what I want to go back to. The simple life of survival.”
“Maybe you should see a psychiatrist about this,” she said scared. “But if this is who you are now then I can’t be a part of you.”

2.      Vietnam is a marvelous country. I was there during the Vietnam War. I served for two years and after I came back I was changed. It made me see life in a completely different way. My time that I spent over there was tremendous. I felt so alive being out there in the jungle living atop the Earth. Being in the jungle was where I belonged. I was part of nature and I loved it. Unlike the others I wasn’t scared of dying. I embraced it and lived like every day was my last. The thrill of living in the Vietnam jungle with the enemy always watching was intoxicating. I never had any qualms when I took a life. It suited me. I was a predator and they were my prey. I first time I killed a man I think something inside of my brain broke. Because afterwards, all I want to do was get another kill. For me the Vietnam War was a complete necessity. Denying people freedom is the worst of crimes. And those that commit such crimes don’t deserve to live. The people that marched on Washington in December of 64 don’t understand how important freedom is (Simkin). They think they want peace but what happens when someone starts to deny them their rights. Are they going to come quietly and peacefully without a fight? No. There will be violence so why shouldn’t there have been violence with the war. Coming home from Vietnam I was no longer suited for American life. Which is the why I formed my band. This way I can release my emotion because no one gets me. What I missed most about Vietnam was the bloodshed. I got such a rush when I killed a man. America doesn’t let you kill people for fun which is why I hate living here. So in order to make my life whole again I became a contract killer. That’s just my day job. My real passion is to be a rockstar but that cost money so I “shoot to thrill, play to kill” (Young, Young, and Johnson). Now the media portrays the Vietnam veteran as “a violent psychopath” (McLaughlin). That may be true for me but not everyone. Some of the soldiers were good brave men with strong morals. The negative media turned the American people away from what was important in the war and focused on all the bad stuff. This hurt many Vietnam vets when they came home because the American people had turned on them (McLaughlin). For me it doesn’t really matter because if they say something to me I’ll just kill them. I don’t take it to personally I just make the decision that they shouldn’t live anymore and then they die.

3.      The Purpose of education is to learn. Knowledge is what makes the world go round. Without education people would not learn to be doctors, scientist, engineers, or physicists. If people don’t have an education to learn how to be these things the world would be stuck back with Mrs. Black in the dark ages. In order for most people to live the lifestyle they want, they need education. If education is restricted how are the children of today supposed to lead the future of tomorrow? The teacher in a senior level class should be talking about things that are out there in the real world. It should not be limited to a sweetened view of life. If teachers shield students from the outside world, then there is no way they will be ready to leave home. People use profanity, people do die, and some people are crazy. A teacher who keeps the truth from her students is not doing her job. A teacher is supposed to teach students about the good and the bad. This way they can learn from both. Over protection of a child is what can get them into huge messes or get them killed. If parents tell kids about dangers, then they will be able to avoid them. Parents think that by not letting their kids know about violence or death then it won’t ever happen. This just makes kids ignorant about such subjects. What happens if there is another war and they are drafted. Never knowing about violence and death or what goes on outside of Stratford this will get them killed. Teachers of such students have the responsibility to educate these students about the dangers and horrors of real life. This is the only way they can be truly prepared to go off on their own. A song that recently came out by Pink Floyd talks about the subject of teachers suppressing students. One line says “we don’t need no thought control.” This is exactly what these teachers today are doing. They are controlling everyone just like the teachers in the song. They aren’t giving the students the chance to think for themselves and make their own decisions. It’s all about what the teacher wants not what the students want. The best teacher is one that brings up the horrors of life to better prepare them for the world that will come before them ("Ear Music The Most Popular Songs of All Time").

4.      Censorship is the work of dictators and tyrants. And I say down with man. There is no reason that literature books should be censored. The book The Things They Carried is an excellent piece of literature that should not be banned. The content of the book is of a mature level but this is a senior level class. If the community’s idea of decency is to ban fine literature then I want no part of this community. We need to stop suppressing the youth and let them live. How are they to learn when books are being banned? The subject matter in this and other books are relevant to their lives in the future. I would know because right after high school I went to Vietnam and killed men. These students are the same age I was when I fought in war and they are not being allowed to read a book. These students need this book to serve as a wakeup call to the world outside Stratford. The teachers and parents are acting as if the students are reading Playboy. They are reading about topics that they will come across at some point in their life. They should not be deprived of precious knowledge that is critical to know. This community is trying to strip these students from their first amendment rights. This past year The Federal Communications Commission tried to censor the tube by delaying shows that were deemed adult programs. This was an attempt to keep children for watching such programs. The National Association of Broadcasters agreed and delayed the shows. That was until a court ruled that it was a violation of the first amendment (Worringham, and Buxton). If the courts of the United States ruled that as a violation of rights, then I say that this censorship of books if a violation of these students rights. It is an outrage that teachers and parents want to take away what could be the most valuable book they’ve ever read. I know that if I had read a book of such graphic details about the Korean War I would have had a better understanding of the importance of life.

This ones for you Alice

Banned Books

Why should books be banned? Books are the epicenter of our learning and understanding of life and of ourselves. Mrs. Black is a relic of dark ages when people were not allow to learn. Expand your life and read the books you want to read. Understanding life comes from the word of the text. Dont let this tyrant take hold of you and force you give up your freedom to learn. Feel the power of the books and let the words flow over you like a wave of magical knowing.

Got a gig tonight. Come to the Red Trap to hear my band.
Keep my panda happy. Play with him everyday and feed him because I don't have any money to buy him food.
